Our Mission

St. Gerard’s Center for Life exists to empower women facing crisis pregnancies to make life-affirming decisions. We are a pregnancy help center that provides educational, spiritual, emotional, and material support to help women gain control of their lives.

Although we are a Catholic organization, we serve all women regardless of their faith journey, and we are dedicated to upholding the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death.

A Brief History

St. Gerard’s Center for Life was initially established in 2004 to serve the residents of Hartford and its surrounding towns. Through free and confidential options consultations and pregnancy services, we provided women facing unexpected pregnancies with the support and encouragement they needed to choose life.

We closed for a long COVID pause in 2021 but reopened on July 22, 2025, with a new Board of Directors, Executive Director, and staff. As the only pregnancy help center in the city of Hartford, we look forward to compassionately serving the women, men, and families of our community for many years to come.

Our Services

We understand the concern and sometimes fear a woman feels when she discovers an unexpected pregnancy. We provide all of our services free of charge because a lack of finances should never be the reason a woman can’t receive the care she deserves.

Here’s what we offer:

• Free and confidential on-site pregnancy tests.
• Coming soon! A free and confidential ultrasound if her pregnancy test is positive.
• Parenting support and material assistance up to 24 months.
• Consultations to review the three options for her pregnancy: abortion, adoption, or parenting.
  (We do not perform or refer for abortion, but do provide factual, medically based information about the procedures, side effects, and potential physical and emotional risks.)
• Post-abortive care for both men and women grappling with the after affects of abortion.
• Men’s services to help equip them for fatherhood.
